Super Bowl LV Review

This year's Super Bowl was pretty uneventful. You would think that a Super Bowl held during a pandemic would be eventful but this year missed the mark. The Super Bowl LV was held in Tampa Bay, Florida, between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs. This was the first year in football history where a team has played the Super Bowl in their city. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came out victorious, even though they did not perform as a team should in the Super Bowl.

The game started with the Chiefs winning the coin toss. In the first quarter, the Chiefs scored one field goal, and the Bucs scored one touchdown making the score 3-7. In the second quarter, the Chiefs scored a second field goal, and the Bucs scored two more touchdowns making the score 6-14. After the halftime show, the Chiefs scored one more field goal, and the Bucs scored a touchdown and a field goal. Nobody scored in the fourth quarter.

Neither team played well. You had the Kansas City Chiefs running around like chickens who just got their heads chopped off. However, the Buccaneers had at least some idea of what they were doing. This was Patrick Mahomes’ second Super Bowl, winning last year, and we were all excited to see him play. Mahomes was playing fine, but the real problem was with the Chief’s offense. Poor Patrick Mahomes spent the whole game running away because the damn offensive line could not perform. In the end, the Chiefs lost 9-31, with the Chiefs not making a single touchdown the entire game.

Many Americans were not too happy to see Tom Brady in the Super Bowl again, myself included. Honestly, although he won MVP, he wasn’t that memorable. The real MVP of the Super Bowl was Rob Gronkowski.

The only thing remotely redeemable in this Super Bowl was the Weeknd’s Halftime Show, but that was just okay. The Weeknd performed some fan-favorite songs like “Starboy” and “Can’t Feel My Face”. We got many up-close views of The Weeknd’s face and some terrible sound quality, but besides that, it was a pretty good halftime show.

Many viewers watched the Super Bowl solely for the commercials. This year you had a couple of great ones, like Michael B. Jordan as Alexa and Drake from Statefarm. Overall this Super Bowl just wasn’t very memorable, but at least it wasn’t as bad as the 2019 one.
